I never really thought of myself as someone with a green thumb — not until my wife and I bought our first home, the one we brought both of our children home to. Like most new homeowners, I made just about every mistake you can imagine. But I kept learning — often by figuring out what not to do. I’ve always been handy, though. Growing up on construction sites with my grandfather and spending 12 years in the electrical field teaches you how to problem-solve and stick with things until you get them right.
A few years later, while living in Australia, I decided to plant a small backyard garden. What started as a 30-foot by 6-foot patch for tomatoes, cucumbers, corn (for some reason), turnips, and a few other vegetables quickly turned into something much bigger — that’s when I discovered my passion for growing.
Since then, that passion has evolved. I now work extensively with Dutch Buckets and hydroponic systems, designing and building my own setups and constantly refining them to get the best results. I still love raised beds — especially wicking garden beds — but I also enjoy the technical challenge that hydro brings.
Growing vegetables in Southern Florida isn’t always easy, and that’s part of what makes it so rewarding. I genuinely love the challenge — and I’d be honored to help you grow successfully here, too.
